DTF planning guide
DTF gang sheet order checklist
Before ordering, confirm every finished transfer size and quantity, match the gap and edge margin to the supplier, review all preview pages, and verify the selected sheet price and shipping. Then rebuild or upload the artwork in the vendor’s production tool and check its final dimensions, resolution, transparency, and acceptance warnings.
The calculator can catch many planning mistakes, but payment should come after a separate production check. A short checklist prevents the common gap between a correct cost estimate and an incorrect uploaded sheet: wrong physical size, missing repeats, unexpected transparent padding, or a supplier rule that differs from the estimate.
Search intent covered: dtf gang sheet order checklist. People close to ordering need a concise operational check that connects the estimate to the vendor builder. The most useful answer covers dimensions, quantities, spacing, pricing, artwork boundaries, page count, and the limits of planning exports without pretending to replace supplier instructions.
Calculator starting points
These presets open the DTF calculator with editable values. Change designs, pricing basis, shipping, gap, edge margin, and sheet candidates after the preset loads.
| Preset | Recommended sheet | Total | Cost each | Open calculator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter gang sheet | 22 x 96 | $50.00 | $0.69 | Calculate Starter gang sheet |
| Small format test | 13 x 19 | $9.00 | $1.50 | Calculate Small format test |
| Long roll estimate | 22 x 96 | $50.00 | $0.69 | Calculate Long roll estimate |
Decision checkpoints
- Confirm the final applied dimensions for every design.
- Reconcile each numbered preview label with the requested quantity.
- Verify pricing basis, sheet price, sheet count, shipping, and cost each.
- Treat the vendor upload preview as the final production authority.
Check the estimate
Review the copied summary while the calculator is still open. Make sure the unit, design names, width, height, quantities, gap, edge margin, rotation setting, selected sheet, and number of sheets are all present. If a shared link was used, confirm that those values restored correctly rather than assuming a preset name represents the whole order.
For multi-sheet results, inspect the page navigation. The numbering should continue across pages, which makes it easier to verify that no design quantity was restarted or omitted.
Check the artwork and supplier builder
Open each production file at its intended physical size. Inspect transparent padding, detached marks, background removal, resolution, and any vendor-specific color or white-ink instructions. Upload to the supplier builder and compare the displayed dimensions with the calculator entries.
Do not send the planning SVG, PDF, or PNG as if it were a RIP-ready gang sheet. Those exports communicate geometry and counts; they do not contain customer artwork or vendor-native production data.
Assumptions
- Supplier prices and shipping in the estimate are current.
- The chosen candidate is actually offered for the intended order.
- Artwork licensing and customer approval are handled outside the calculator.
- The vendor will provide a final acceptance or preview step.
Limitations
- The calculator cannot inspect pixels, resolution, transparency, or color profiles.
- It does not create white underbase data, registration marks, or RIP settings.
- A supplier may repack designs and report a different utilization value.
- Production turnaround, refunds, and quality policies are outside the estimate.
Save the evidence
Keep the copied summary and planning export with the quote or job record. If the supplier layout changes, you have a clear list of the assumptions used for price and quantity instead of relying on memory or a screenshot of only the first page.
